*MY THOUGHTS*

First I wanna make a disclaimer and say although I own Bardugo's first series, I still haven't read it. I attempted to back when I still wasn't a fan of fantasy, but then I put it down because I still wasn't fully in love. But even still, it didn't stop me from reading this one.
"You couldn't train a falcon, then ask it not to hunt."
pg. 63
In the slums there is a criminal named Kaz Brekker. He's offered the deal of a lifetime and wastes no time deciding that this will be his ticket out of there. The catch is, he can't do it alone. He enlists the help of a few other criminals to get what they need and get out.
"The heart is an arrow.. It demands aim to land true.."
pg. 333
There were a few things I had a problem with, but they were mainly my doing. Towards the beginning I still had to learn so much, but that was only because I didn't read the first series where most of the things I was confused about were missing. I knew that was my own doing, so I just Googled it and got over it. It didn't take away from the book at all, just made me want to really read the Shadow and Bone series.
"A gun is not evil. Nor is a blade."
pg. 381
But I really liked the characters and how they were criminals and not the "upstanding citizens" other characters usually are. It was interesting to see characterless in a not so prefect light and me still have heartfelt feelings toward them. It really felt weird to root for the antiheroes, but I will continue to do it for this series.I also liked the writing style. As stated, I didn't read her first series, so her writing was still new to me. It was so descriptive and was definitely intriguing. I can see why people will be "flocking" to pick up this new release tomorrow! (Bird pun not intended...)
"We are all someone's monster."
pg. 427
I can always tell how much I love a book by how much I put off my homework to read it or by how much I rant about it to the boyfriend. I did both with this read, so I'm not surprised to say I really liked it. Leigh Bardugo has just gained  new fan in me and I can't wait to go back and try fantasy with her all over again!
Overall, I give this
